You probably already know about House of Cards (#1) and Orange is the New Black (#2), but I have NINE other Netflix original shows you need to add to your queue RIGHT NOW. Most of these are available right now and a couple are coming soon so mark your calendar and get ready to binge!
#3 Derek: You will laugh, you will sob. Phenomenal. Must see, seriously.
#4 Arrested Development: This show actually started out on network tv but thanks to the Netflix gods, one more season of the crazy Arrested Development antics was released. Word on the street is season 5 of Arrested Development on Netflix is only a matter of time!
#5 Peaky Blinders: This in one of our two current Netflix original obsessions (see #6 for the other). This story about an organized crime family known as the Peaky Blinders begins in Brimingham, England in 1919. For anyone who has trouble with accents, turn on the subtitles (this is a great trick for Downton Abbey fans as well!). Very good. Super violent, as you might have guessed.
#6 Marco Polo: We are only one episode in and we are already obsessed. Netflix describes Marco Polo as “an epic adventure that follows the early years of the famous explorer as he travels the exotic Silk Road to the great Kublai Khan’s court. But Marco soon finds that navigating the Khan’s world of greed, betrayal, sexual intrigue and rivalry will be his greatest challenge yet, even as he becomes a trusted companion to the Khan in his violent quest to become the Emperor of the World.”#7 Lilyhammer: On our “to watch” list, Lilyhammer is the story of a mob boss turned state’s evidence. He relocates from New York to, you guessed it, Norway to begin a new life.
#8 Bojack Horseman: This animated series stars Will Arnett, Aaron Paul and Amy Sedaris so I am laughing already. On our “to watch list” simply because the description from Netflix is so freaking hilarious. “Meet the most beloved sitcom horse of the ’90s … 20 years later. BoJack Horseman was the star of the hit TV show ‘Horsin’ Around,’ but today he’s washed up, living in a Hollywood bachelor pad, complaining about everything, and sometimes wearing colorful sweaters.”#9 The Killing: This critically acclaimed crime thriller will appeal to Dexter fans. Might want to try the first couple of episodes during the day time!
#10 Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: DYING for this show to start. Hilarious premise and a great cast. Starts Friday March 6th!
#11 Bloodline: Friday Night Lights fans, get excited for the return of Kyle Chandler in this dramatic thriller set in the Florida Keys. Premieres March 20th!
Disclosure: Netflix has provided me with products and services in exchange for participation in their #StreamTeam program. While the topic is suggested by Netflix, the content is honest and straight from the heart, like all of the posts on this blog.
